Committees

Corporate Fundraising Committee
Chaired by Tracy Baim, this committee works with both local and multi-national companies to develop sponsors for Gay Games VII. With outside consultants and staff, this committee is charged with all fundraising related tasks for the 2006 Gay Games. Sub-committees handle events, donors, merchandising an other revenue projects.


Ceremonies Committee
Chaired by Greg McNitt and Tracy Baim, this committee is working on the large-scale ceremonies for Opening, Closing and Medals events. Jam Productions is the firm hired to produce these events.


Culture Committee
Chaired by Tracy Baim and David Woody, this committee is focused on creating the core cultural events and the arts festival programming for the Gay Games VII. These "affiliated" events will be run by private agencies and non-profits, which will pay a fee to be officially licensed by the Gay Games. These elements will include disciplines such as theater, poetry, literature, arts, dance and music. Sub-committee is working on the core cultural elements of Gay Games VII, the choral and band concerts in Millennium Park in downtown Chicago, as well as the Opening and Closing ceremonies. Core elements are band, choral, cheer and color guard.


Diversity Committee
The role of the Diversity Committee is to assist the Gay Games in achieving its missions' diversity goals. Each other committee has a representative on the Diversity Committee, serving as a ‘Diversity Ambassador’ for that committee. The Diversity Ambassador’s role is to help their primary committee discover its own diversity goals regarding vendors, consultants, staff, volunteers, participants, venues, entertainment, outreach and marketing and report their progress and challenges at DC meetings. The Diversity Committee will serve as an internal/external resource for diversity successes, challenges and training.


Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is a subcommittee of the Board of Directors made up of all of the officers and appointed at-large members. The Board Co-Chairs, Vice Co-Chairs, Treasurer, Secretary, HR chair and Founder. The Executive Committee is charged with day-to-day operations of Chicago Games, Inc., in partnership with the staff.


Finance Committee
Chaired by Kurt Dahl, the Finance is charged with establishing the strong internal financial controls and reporting finances and “in kind” donations to the Gay Games. Prudent fiscal controls, procedures, and policies are followed in order to insure a profitable venture with close oversight and monitoring of every aspect of the finances of this organization. This Committee is responsible for assuring that the budget and actual performance are reflective of adherence to all Federal, State and other accounting reporting standards and that the figures are properly maintained and audited.


Government Relations Committee
Chaired by Tracy Baim, this committee works in "Strategic Partnership" with the city of Chicago, Cook County, the city of Evanston and the state of Illinois as it relates to various government departments. These departments include parks, tourism, convention, police, transportation, health, and others. A sub-committee, chaired by Dennis Sneyers, is working on the U.S. government as it relates to immigration and HIV issues.


Individual Donors Fundraising Committee
The Individual Donors' Fundraising Committee works to provide financial support and link individuals to Gay Games VII through donations and fundraising events. There is a role for anyone wishing to contribute to this upcoming sports and cultural event, in July 2006. To see a list of benefits related to sponsorship levels, click here. Committee is part of the overall Fundraising Committee, chaired by Tracy Baim, and is connected to the Gay Games Champions Honorary Board, chaired by Mayor Richard Daley and co-chaired by City Treasurer Judy Rice.


Legal Committee
The Legal team oversees all contracts related to the operation of Gay Games VII, from venues and merchandise to vendors and sponsors.


Logistics
The committee deals with Transportation, Accommodations, and Health, Safety and Security. Working with the Government Relations, Technology, Sports and other committees, Logistics will make sure your Gay Games VII experience is smooth and done with ease. Whether it is hosted housing, hotels and dorm rooms, the registration hub, the maps, the police at large venues, the university security staff, or the emergency services at every sporting event, Logistics will make sure your needs are met and your experience is wonderful in our Windy City.


Marketing Communications Committee
The Marketing Communications Committee promotes the Gay Games - its vision, mission and legacy - and convinces people to support, attend, and participate in GGVII. Specifically, the Marketing Communications Committee develops and oversees the overall marketing communications and outreach strategy for GGVII, and supports staff and volunteers as they implement that strategy worldwide. The Marketing Communications Committee is chaired by Kevin Boyer. Marketing staff include Marketing Director Phyllis Jones, Advertising Manager Brenda Schumacher, Sports/Events Marketing Manager Cathy Seabaugh, Direct Marketing Manager Ryan Reynolds, and Marketing Administrator Danny White.


Nominating, Governance and HR Committee
The Nominating, Governance and HR Committee reports to the Board of Directors and works closely with the Director of Human Resources. Its primary functions are: to establish and oversee the administration of polices and procedures for hiring staff, compensation and benefits; to see that the Corporation adheres to Federal, State and local laws and regulations related to employees; to establish and administer a processes for vetting, interviewing and recommending new board members for acceptance by the entire Board; and to recruit, interview and provide recommendations for filling vacant employee positions within the organization. This Committee will also handle all grievances in the case of employment disputes, working closely with outside counsel as needed. The committee is chaired by Christopher Pries.


Social Committee
Currently a subcommittee of the Culture Committee, the Social Committee is ready to strike out on its own. The Social Committee has already been hard at work, meeting with promoters, organizations and bar owners to ensure that the Gay Games Sports and Cultural Festival is your chance to experience anything and everything Chicago has to offer, all within one fantastic week-long celebration. Chicago’s LGBT scene is outrageous no matter what time of year it is, but during that one week in July 2006, we are committed to making sure you have the time of your life. Sports Committee
Co-chaired by Ted Cappas and Joe Capaletti, the sports committee is charged with creating the best athletic experience for participants in each of the 30 Gay Games VII official sports. All leaders work with a team of hundreds of volunteers to focus attention on the small and large details of running exceptional tournaments for the athletes. Whether it is international sanctioning, adequate locker rooms, or water available for runners, you can be sure the sports committee will provide a memorable Gay Games.


Technology Committee
The technology committee coordinates technology requirements for Gay Games VII. It is chaired by Julien Jacquet.


Volunteer Committee
This committee interacts with all other Gay Games VII committees to create a comprehensive volunteer recruitment and retention program for the Gay Games during the two-year build-up to the events, as well as during the 8 days of sports and culture.
